Mt Arapiles is a magnet for climbers from around the world.  Mt Arapiles was named by the first European to climb it, the early explorer Major Mitchell,
its Aboriginal name is Dyurrait.  Tooan State includes an Aboriginal sacred site and a cave high in a cliff face
where the bushranger (outlaw) Captain Melville used to stash his loot.

Clunes was the first place gold was discovered in Victoria.  The town is obviously a shadow of its former self, with a population
of  1,100 people now, but buildings from more prosperous times abound,  including churches, there seemed to be a lot of churches.

Halls Gap is a town inside the Grampians National Park.
Here there is an abundance of Kangaroos, and inspiring scenery.

Bunjil was the powerful creator god of south eastern Australia Aborigines (Kooris).
"
Bunjil created the land and the water, the plants and the animals, the laws and religion of the Koori people.
Bunjil remains the protector of the natural world, his people and their beliefs."
This national park lies between Stawell and Pomonal.  It was recently burnt out by a bushfire.
I was wondering whether all the egg shaped rocks led to cosmic thoughts, or the idea that "building blocks" were lying scattered around.

Black Saturday

On a day that reached 46 degrees C (115 F) with strong winds bushfires roared through towns killing 173, many burned alive in their homes.
Marysville in the hills east of Melbourne was particularly hard hit (along with Kinglake).  The fickle flames left neighbours houses intact,
wooden homes were spared, brick burned to the ground.  Life is returning as it must, and I close the gallery with happier scenes at nearby Eildon.
